What is a custom domain, and how do Shared, Dedicated, and Own Domains work in Linkfans?

A custom domain is a branded web address you use instead of the default platform URL.
For example:
- Default: https://linkfans.ai/yourname
- With a custom domain: https://yourname.com or https://link.yourname.com
Here, the domain is the “root” part of the URL – e.g. linkfans.ai or yourname.com.
In Linkfans, custom domains can come from three different sources:
-
Shared Domain
- A domain owned and managed by Linkfans, shared by a limited number of users (normally 100).
- You select one from the available pool and use your own path (e.g. shared-domain.com/yourname).
-
Dedicated Domain
- Also provided and managed by Linkfans, but usage = 1 – the domain is reserved exclusively for your account or agency.
- Ideal when you want stronger brand isolation and reduced risk from other users’ behavior.
-
Own Domain
- A domain you purchase yourself from a registrar such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Cloudflare (e.g. yourbrand.com).
- You connect it to Linkfans by updating DNS / nameservers, and then use it as the primary address for your pages.
In short, a custom domain in Linkfans is any non-default, branded domain you configure for your pages—whether it’s a Shared, Dedicated, or Own domain.
